4th Grade, 3rd Place (tie)

Once Upon a time There was a dog named Weenie, he was a wiener dog. There was something off about this dog… it never got scared. There was something weird about its fur too. He had orange and white fur and on Halloween he would always go around the neighborhood scaring kids. No one could figure out why the kids were scared of Weenie, but I’m starting the story now. Please believe me with what I tell you. I woke up to my mom yelling my name and then I ran down stairs as fast as I could.When i got down stairs my mom said “pack your stuff we are moving today! Then I said “why” confusedly. “So that we can go find this dog that everyone is talking about and find out what is wrong with him, and why everyone is scared of it.” and I said “umm ok but why do we have to move?” “because I heard that the dog is killing people and he is coming to our house” “Then why do we need to find the dog.” Then they heard scratching on the door. “Mom what was that?”
“I don’t know, but hurry go through the back door” “ok ok” I said .
I ran as fast as I could out the back door! I was so scared. I didn’t know what to do other than run. I started running faster and faster… I ran for so long that I was starting to run out of breath, I had to stop! But where was my mom? I didn’t see her anymore. Just as I started to panic I heard my mom yell, “Maya, don’t stop running! No matter what!!”. I started to run again.
I ran for what felt like a million miles and by now, I didn’t know where I was anymore. Then I heard something..“What are you doing here little girl?~” a stranger said creeply out of the darkness. So I turned and looked in the dark corner and saw an old man walking out of the darkness. He had long scraggly gray hair, a huge nose, and long fingernails. I tried to back up so quickly that I tripped on a rock. I was laying on the ground out of nowhere someone came out and punched the man right in his face. As I looked I saw my mom holding her hand out to me and I grabbed it! She told me we were headed to get some things to help us fight this evil. I had no clue what that might be, but it couldn’t hurt! They got their gear and went back in the woods and saw my mom who saved me .”M- mom you s-saved me” I said. “Yes, now come on,we got to go now!” said my mom .Then we started to go through the woods and as they were walking they heard some noise in the bush and an orange and black wiener dog came out. “M-mom the d-dog found us!..” I said quietly as we started to run.As they were running Weenie started to chase after them.Then they got home and locked all of the doors But then Weenie came flying through the roof and tried to eat them but he failed.Then they taught Weenie to not bite people and Weenie is now maya’s pet then they went to the pet store
