The Role of AI for Writers

Artificial Intelligence has sparked heated debate among writers in recent years. The 2023 Writers Guild of America strike highlighted these concerns, as one of the demands was to limit AI to roles like research assistance or idea generation, rather than as a replacement for screenwriters. Similarly, prominent authors like John Grisham recently filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging unauthorized use of their work to train AI systems like ChatGPT.

King’s keynote will focus on the positive side of AI, showcasing how it can enhance an author’s creative process. He will share practical insights on using AI to overcome writer’s block, develop chapter outlines, suggest narrative structures, and refine story pacing.
