“Haunting of The Bullcreek Bridge and Glowing Tombstone”
by Brayden Tapley
It all started while riding down the dark, country, dirt road on a warm September night in Daisy, Georgia with my brother and his two friends Colby and Michael. My brother, Dawson, decided to pull over near Bull Creek road to sit by the creek and talk about good times and have a small fire. While sitting on the tailgate of the truck, Michael and Colby started talking about a scary story that said a murder happened at Bull Creek and remains were found in the water. Colby also said that if you cross over the bridge 3 times and sit by the river on a full moon night, that the water would turn red and the ghost of the man would be seen. Also, if you left and passed the church and cemetery that a glowing grave would be seen where the man was buried. Dawson laughed out loud and said, “Y’all are so full of it. There is no such thing as ghosts during a full moon, tonight or any night, and I will prove it’s not true.” Dawson, still laughing, backed out his truck and left us all by the embankment. We saw his headlights and heard his loud music playing with sand in the air and the bridge making cracking noises as he rode back and forth across it. We saw him applying his brakes and heard the metallic metal screeching to a halt when he turned around and continued until he made his third loop back. Dawson pulled back up while staring at all of us and said, “I told you so” and sat back down on his tailgate. Suddenly, we felt a cold breeze and it started
getting foggy. The water started rippling and started turning red while the full moon was shining brightly over the creek. We all were frozen with fear and looking at each other in hope that one of us would know what to do. We quickly ran and jumped in the truck to escape whatever could be lurking at the creek to be seen. The truck tires kicked up dirt as we rode by the haunting scene on the creek. As we passed by the cemetery and looked to the right, we were startled as we saw the glowing grave with a large, creepy shadow beside it. We will never again doubt the story of the haunting of Bull Creek, the red rippling water, and the glowing tombstone that lies in the creepy, quiet, cemetery.
